[Fpga-synth] music-dsp list thread about Filterbanks

I've just been to the Sherman Filterbank site:

While I can hear some interesting effects on the "sounds" page, I can't tell very much about what
the user is doing with the filter. There are numerous knobs on the analog design, so I can only
guess that there's a good bit of tweaking during the recordings.
Is this just one of those "play with the knobs, dude" sort of things?
If so, it seems a prerequisite for such a digital filter would be to have a large bank of knobs
(rotary encoders) on a panel to play with. Yes?
