Usually no.

I have that on the SY77 and I just plain hate it; on the SQ80 I can set 
the oscillators to "free-run" (which just means that the oscillators are 
not forced to 0 upon a new voice being assigned).

Force-reset I only find useful together with percussion (or any 
unlooped) wave, and even there some slight variation of the entry point 
might be desireable.

For most of the time, I'd consider it a disadvantage as it makes the 
overall sound quite sterile.
