Digital synths have a tendency to sound "too perfect" and syncing the
osces to the key triggers adds some of that (usually) undesirable
perfection, helping every C4 sound *even more* like every other C4 you
play. But there patches on a modular where this reduction of
uniformity between notes becomes exagerated, say when the timbre/
harmonic contents becomes very dependent on the phase between two osces.
