Hey,

about the DC when syncing: how long is the spike you measured? It  
might be that the signal goes through an HPF for exactly that purpose:  
to get rid of a DC offset.

I once had issues with DC offset in one of my synth experiments and  
what I did was add a 1 pole IIR high pass at 30 Hz just before the  
DAC. It removes DC offset without audibly affecting the signal. That  
would explain wide spikes, but not short ones.

By the way: you posted wrong URLs to some of your GIFs. I added the  
missing "/pics" to the path to see them anyway :)
