Not greedy at all - it's a nice goal to have. Unfortunately, a
combined ADC/DAC codec requires at a minimum 5 I/O signals (mclk,
sclk, lrclk, di, do) and there are only 4 signals available on the
Digilent 6-pin connectors. Because of that it's more practical to put
the ADC and DAC on separate connectors.

I know what you mean about time though - so much to do. I haven't done
anything with my 3AN besides power it up and watch the blinky lights.

I'm providing 3.5mm a stereo jack because it's small (the board is
small), inexpensive and 'least common denominator' - most audio
equipment will support it natively, or with readily available
adaptors. If you'd prefer gold-plated, oxygen-free copper BNC jacks
with low dielectric teflon insulators and 2GHz frequency response then
you're free to pull the stereo jack off and solder your own connectors
on. :)
