Just curious, have you ever moved your USB connection to another port?

For some reason my midisport 2x2 interface does this if I dare to unplug it 
and move it to a port other than the one I originally installed it on. It 
seems that the driver wants to install an instance of itself for every USB 
port on the machine. Since I have 8 ports it can take a while to finish. If 
this process does not go smoothly at first install then it seems to do 
exactly what you described until I completely uninstall the driver and start 
again from scratch.
